4C Mailbox or CBU Mailbox? Which One is Right for You?
4C Mailbox or CBU Mailbox? Which One is Right for You?
The first thing to consider is if this will be an exterior or interior application. 4C units can be used in both locations while a CBU is typically used only in exterior applications. If using the 4C mailbox on an interior application it can be surface mounted, recessed into the wall, or used in a vario depot. Typically, if someone is looking for an exterior application the 4C mailbox would be recessed in a wall, in a covered shelter, or used in a vario depot. We would not recommend surface mounting a 4C in an exterior application if it is exposed to the elements. CBU mailboxes only come on a pedestal, and as mentioned previously are used in exterior applications.
The second thing to consider is if the mailboxes need to have customized doors. 4C mailboxes offer a wide variety of door options and configurations. The tenant and parcel doors can be customized to different sizes and configurations to meet your needs. The CBU mailboxes come as is and are regulated by the USPS. There is no option to configure doors with a CBU, they are what they are.
Color is the third thing to consider. While this is usually not a deciding factor, it is important to note that the 4C mailboxes come in eight different colors while the CBU comes in six different choices.
