How to Change your USPS Mailbox Tenant Lock

Replacing your tenant USPS approved cluster mailbox lock is simple and quick! This is a simple guide to changing the lock on your Florence Mailbox apartment mailboxes. These steps apply to your USPS cluster mailboxes or your 4C horizontal mailboxes.
Supplies:
To begin you will need to basic tools and 1/2” nut driver and a pair of channel locks.
Step 1:
Contact your Local Post Office so that a letter carrier can give you access to the USPS apartment mailbox.
Step 2:
Once they let you in pop the latch. With the doors open locate the lock you need to replace.
Step 3:
Take your 1/2’’ nut driver and remove the nut.
Step 4:
Once the nut is office remove the cam which exposes the clip.
Step 5:
After you remove the cam close the gate
Step 6:
Take you channel locks and pull down on the clip. The lock will come out
It’s always a good idea to pull the key out of the lock to breathe which will prevent breaking
Step 7:
Take the lock and insert it in the apartment mailbox. Take the clip, using the channel locks get underneath the clip and squeeze up.
Be sure to always use a new clips when installing a new lock.
Step 8:
With the new lock and clip installed you are ready to install the cam. Tighten the nut with your 1/2” driver.
With the cam in place your is lock is ready for use!
